What makes The Apprentice so popular?

Who will be hired and who will be fired in this fun team building program!

Modeled after the popular television reality series, “The Apprentice” this is a team building activity everyone will enjoy. This action packed program will require teams to work as a decisive unit as they collaborate and think outside the box. They will need to budget, source materials and complete a product design. Teams will need to demonstrate their marketing and sales prowess if they are to convince the boss that they should be ‘Hired’ and the rest ‘Fired’.

There are three exciting “Apprentice Style” options available:-

Let’s shop!

Each team will receive an identical ‘Resource List’ (this is essentially a shopping list) which has been compiled in conjunction with a charity local to the area or specific to your organisation.  Teams will also receive a shopping allowance but here is the catch, the total cost of the entire shopping list exceeds the available budget, this is where teams will need to think creatively and use all of their teams’ available skills in order to come out on top and buy all of the items on their list. The team that has scored the most points (collecting items plus bonus points awarded) will be hired and the rest fired.

Shopping Channel

Each team, acting as representatives of a marketing agency, will design and develop a creative pitch to bid for a unique business opportunity that involves creating a new shopping channel TV ad that markets and sells the products of a particular company. Products will vary from self-designed T-Shirts, children’s breakfast cereal and even a brand new invention.

Teams will start by participating in some fun team challenges to win items and props to assist them in preparing their pitch and then it’s time to strategise and come up with a creative pitch we means they must consider budget, target market, unique selling point, scripts and all the sales and marketing elements needed to make a successful TV advertisement for the shopping channel which also includes creating a short film advert of their product. Teams will then pitch their advert, ideas and support materials to the Board who will then decide who to hire and who to fire  Apprentice style!

Build It!

Teams will build a bike for charity and then use the materials provided to enhance and customize the bike and helmet. Here is where the creativity is unleased! Each team must then collaborate and think of a creative advertising campaign to sell their custom creation to the masses. Teams will then present their original, innovative and often humorous ad campaigns to the board (and other teams) who will then decide who is “hired” and the rest “fired”.

Activity level and type of group this is suited to

The Apprentice is a great team building activity that requires lateral thinking, communication, team work, creativity, decision making and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. This team building activity has an intensity level of low.
